The fib TG 8.1 developed a ‘how-to-do’ guide on protection, repair, and strengthening techniques for concrete structures, published as the fib bulletin 102 (protection and repair) and the fib bulletin 103 (strengthening), each one organized in 12 chapters. These are intended to provide both guidelines and case studies, serving as support to the application of the fib MC 2020 pre-normative specifications. For each protection, repair and strengthening method addressed in this guide, readers have a description of when to adopt it, which materials and systems are required, which techniques are available, and what kind of equipment is needed. It then presents a summary of stakeholders’ roles and qualifications, design guidelines referring to most relevant codes and references, the intervention procedure, quality control measures and monitoring and maintenance activities.

Aiming to disseminate the guide, the fib organized two webinars. The first one took place on the 14th of September and addressed the content of the fib bulletin 102. The second one will take place on the 12th of October and it will focus on the content of the fib bulletin 103. Everyone interested in strengthening concrete structures is welcome and attendance is free of charge. A 10 minutes gap between presentations is previewed, providing participants the opportunity to discuss technical issues with authors.
