The fib supports Evoluzione delle tipologie strutturali prefabbricate -nuove applicazioni, which will take place online on 26 September 2024.

The common perception is that when we talk about prefabrication, industrial warehouses come to mind. In reality, the construction industry is evolving very rapidly: the demand from public and private clients is for rapid and certain times, costs under control, safety on construction sites, performance and durability of buildings determined and monitored over time. It is also known that it is difficult to find expert workers for the work on site. In this scenario, pre-fabrication and building industrialization technologies, adequately supported by the digitalisation of processes, constitute a very effective response to the requests mentioned above. A great opportunity.

We decided to divide our proposals into two events, distinct in time but closely connected to each other, to exchange experiences and technologies in this field. CTE is one of the Italian members of fib, and to talk about these topics we were inspired by bulletin 101: “Precast Concrete in Tall Buildings”. This document represents an overview of the state of the art regarding the application of different pre-fabricated elements for tall buildings. We will therefore start by sharing examples of tall buildings built in Italy also with concrete elements produced in the factory and installed on site: internationally renowned designers will share with us their truly uncommon experiences. Very complex but fascinating construction solutions and structural calculation approaches for us engineers: challenges taken up and successfully won.

Not just tall buildings obviously: the new applications of prefabrication are numerous and of great interest. Our second appointment will provide an overview of these applications, as well as a complete and documented summary of the fib 101 bulletin: facades, integrated construction systems, connection systems, etc.

All the speakers of the two sessions will discuss each other in a round table: like a link between the two events.

The reports will be proposed according to the CTE style: concrete examples of both technologies and structural calculation by those who, with great passion and a lot of work, represent excellence in terms of structural concrete and building industrialization.
