Proceedings

The publication and dissemination of the proceedings of conferences, congresses or symposia remain entirely within the responsibility of the organizers of the event. Proceedings are not official fib publications even if the event was co-sponsored by or organized on behalf of the fib. Published proceedings can be ordered by contacting the addresses of the organisers when possible.

The fib supports the organisation of different events. It organises a Congress every four years, a Symposium in the years between each Congress and also a PhD Symposium every two years.

The proceedings of fib congresses and symposia are indexed in Scopus (most of them) and in Web of Science (some of them). All recent congresses and symposia proceedings are developed with the latest quality standards like peer review of each publication.

It is possible to obtain for, fib members, the electronic copy of the proceedings of the fib congresses and symposia through the fib  bookstore.

It is also possible, for fib members, to obtain the electronic copy of the proceedings of CEB and FIP though the fib bookstore.

The congresses since the foundation of fib are:

  • 1st fib October 2002, Osaka, Japan. Concrete Structures in the 21st Century
  • The Second fib  June 2006. Naples, Italy
  • 3rd fib Congress, May to June 2010, Washington, D.C., USA
  • 4th fib Congress, February 2014. Mumbai. India.

Apply for Task Groups

One of the fib’s main activities is the publication of technical bulletins: state-of-the-art reports, recommendations, guides and model codes. Ten fib Commissions and several Special Activity Groups (SAG), including several Task Groups, develop and draft these bulletins, which form the cornerstone of fib’s work and are a major contribution to the international knowledge base on structural concrete. Members come from both research and industry, ensuring a balance between theoretical knowledge and relevant practical experience. New members are always welcome.

Commission members should be members of the fib; members of task groups are encouraged but not required to become fib members.

For the list of current commissions, task groups and their working programmes, visit the commissions page.

Model Code for Concrete Structures

A central aspect within the mission of the fib is the release of model codes on concrete structures and related subjects. These codes should serve worldwide as the guiding science-based documents offering in a code-type version the state of the art knowledge on the planning, design, construction, execution, operation or in service performance, maintenance, rehabilitation and dismantlement of new and existing concrete structures, respectively. The model codes should meet the latest requirements and technologies in view of aspects related to safety, serviceability, durability, resilience and sustainability of structures, recognizing economic, aesthetic and other needs of different societies.
